Christine Dixie 'To Be King' in Venice 2017

13 May 2017 - 26 Nov 2017

Christine Dixie has been invited to present her work, To Be King, in Venice at the 2017 exhibition “Personal Structures”. Hosted by the European Cultural Centre, in Palazzo Mora and Palazzo Bembo, the exhibition will run from 13 May to 26 November 2017. Christine invites you to join her for this auspicious occasion on a global stage.

In addition, the GAA Foundation in partnership with the European Cultural Centre, has invited the artist to lead and participate in a lecture in Palazzo Mora on a date to be confirmed between May 13th and May 20th 2017. The lecture will examine the process of creating an installation which recontextualises the painting Las Meninas from the place of a post-colonial space, the Eastern Cape in South Africa. It uses Foucault’s essay Las Meninas as a template with which to relook at structures around power, perspective and the gaze.
