About Sulger-Buel Lovell

Gallery History

In 2014 African art collector Christian Sulger-Buel and gallerist, Tamzin Lovell Miller, partnered to launch Sulger-Buel Lovell in London. Christian Sulger-Buel had been collecting African art for over 35 years, and Tamzin Lovell opened her first gallery in Cape Town in December 2009.

Sulger-Buel Lovell is positioned as part of a new approach in understanding the trajectories of contemporary art from Africa and the diaspora. It focuses on the challenges that artists are confronting in their urban environments, where art is a configuration of regional, intercontinental and global ideas and practices.
